Grace Holcomb
i have walked on two roads,
both named Life.
one has lamp posts with
gloomy, flickering lighting that is
never
bright enough, and a
lake where
defensive words line the shore.
you will find
rushed breezes along the way, carrying a couple of
ex-lovers that will always be
wrong about everything.
the change of the seasons is the
worst time of all.
each person on this road quietly repeats,
“this journey is not enough.”
the other has lamp posts that are
humbly admired each night and a
lake where people come to
circle and return to their purpose.
patience exists
in every inch of air
because of
ex-lovers that revealed so many
new words and feelings.
the change of the seasons is the
greatest lesson of them all.
the song that is sung says,
“i am enough for this journey.”
